Grant Zhou

Highgo Software

Grant is the founder of Hornetlabs Technology, supporting Highgo Software, where he leads the PostgreSQL development team, collaborating across North America and China. He also serves as the Secretary of the International Consultant Committee for the PostgreSQL China Association and acts as the Organizer & Asia Liaison at PostgresConf.

Before founding Hornetlabs, Grant spent over a decade at Alcatel-Lucent (Nokia), gaining deep expertise in high availability, real-time telecommunications, database technologies, and Unix/Linux programming.

Under his leadership, the Highgo team also launched the IvorySQL product, an open-source database featuring Oracle compatibility built on PostgreSQL, now available at IvorySQL.org.

Oleg Bartunov

Postgres Professional

Oleg Bartunov, a major PostgreSQL developer, has been involved in PostgreSQL development since 1996 ( he introduced locale support). He is one of the author of the PostgreSQL extendability infrastructure (GiST, GIN, SP-GiST) and several popular non-atomic data types, such as, arrays, full text search, NoSQL (hstore and jsonb). His latest contribution is a new access method RUM, which greatly improves full text search.

Oleg graduated from the Astronomy department of the Physics department at Lomonosov's Moscow State University. During his professional work at Sternberg Astronomical Institute (SAI MSU) he realized he needed a free and powerful open-source database like PostgreSQL (Postgres95 that time). Since then he extensively used PostgreSQL in his scientific work and many other projects. Oleg is an active member of Russian PostgreSQL community, he advocated the adoption of PostgreSQL by astronomical community. One of his scientific projects make use of scalable indexing of multi-terabytes sky catalogues developed for PostgreSQL, which outperforms known techniques used in commercial databases.

His main interests are Informaton Retrieval, Databases Extensibility, Algorithms and Data Structures, Service-Oriented Architecture for Science and XLDB for Science. In spare time he like to play volleyball, running and trekking in Himalaya.

Highgo Software

Michael Meskes holds a Ph.D. in database science and has worked in the open-source industry his whole career. After his time at RWTH Aachen university he started and ran credativ, a pure open-source company that is now part of NetApp, where Michael is still leading the same group of open-source enthusiasts. On top of that he is tasked with improving open-source work within NetApp.

Coming from the Unix landscape he started working on free and open-source software in 1993 and subsequently joined several free software projects like the Linux kernel (1994), Debian GNU/Linux (1995) and PostgreSQL (1996). He is still active as a Debian developer and a PostgreSQL committer as much as his real life commitments allow him to.

Michael has engaged in significant open-source evangelism and given related presentations at numerous events. He teaches open-source infrastructure and cloud components at a local university as an adjunct professor.

No video of the event yet, sorry!
