Jordan Lewis is a Member of the Technical Staff at Cockroach Labs. He joined Cockroach Labs to work on the best new database on the block with the people who know how to make it great. Before joining Cockroach Labs, Jordan was improving education at Knewton, where he worked on providing real-time content recommendations for students at scale. Outside of work, he rock climbs at the gym and outdoors, sings, and plays board games.
Nikhil Benesch
Nikhil Benesch is a Member of Technical Staff at Cockroach Labs where he works on CockroachDB. He joined Cockroach Labs to work on really challenging database infrastructure problems. When he's not at work, Nikhil surfs in the Rockaways, bakes apple turnovers, and embroiders pillowcases with 8-bit monograms.
CockroachDB is a distributed SQL database built to run in cloud-native environments. CockroachDB is built to power applications with geo-distributed users (Miami to Seattle, or Sydney to Paris) and hybrid deployments. In this 3-hour workshop, users will get an introduction into CockroachDB's design and architecture, covering data distribution, distributed transactions, geo-replication, and deployment and operational basics.
